Peer to Peer Energy Trading In Microgrid

The study addresses the current centralized power infrastructure’s shortcomings and focuses on the development of decentralized smart power systems employing microgrid networks. It introduces the notion of peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, which allows for direct buying and selling of electricity between users without the need for traditional intermediaries such as utilities. This method is especially beneficial in microgrids. The primary purpose of this work is to create a peer-to-peer energy trading mechanism for renewable energy sources, specifically wind turbines and solar panels connected in a microgrid. The model is developed with the IEEE 9 bus bar technology and three prosumers (producerconsumers) from the microgrid network. The trading concept is conceived from the standpoint of the prosumer. Furthermore, the article investigates the integration of blockchain technology into the energy sector and provides a Bluetooth-based wireless communication network for P2P energy trade. A mobile app for Android smartphones facilitates the trading procedure.
