A Region of Interest Technique for Event Driven Typed SPAD Readout Circuit

The region of interest (ROI) technology proposed in this paper only enables the pixels in the ROI to work. The minimum size of ROI can be 1×1. It supports reading data in multiple ROIs in parallel, and adaptively adjusts the frame frequency of the readout circuit (ROIC) according to the size and number of ROIs. The scheme uses TSMC 0.18μm CMOS process, applied to 8×8-scale event driven typed ROIC. Simulation results show that the frame frequency adaptive adjustment range of the ROIC is 150.4kHz~212.9kHz with different ROIs. At the same time, with the reduction of the size and number of ROIs, the average power consumption of the ROIC in a single frame time can be reduced by up to 62.6%.
