Modified Zeta Converter for Electric Vehicle Battery Charger with Improved THD

In recent times, there has been a noticeable increase in the demand for integrating electric vehicles into the existing power grid. The seamless incorporation of electric vehicles into the conventional grid infrastructure has become achievable through advancements in diverse power semiconductor bias arrangements and the evolution of power electronic transformers. These technological developments have paved the way for an effective interface that enables electric vehicles to operate optimally at their maximum power output. Among the various solutions available for integrating renewable energy and electric vehicles, the Modified Zeta Converter (MZC) stands out as a widely embraced topology. This specific configuration of the Modified Zeta DC -DC converter serves multiple purposes, including offering galvanic insulation through a high -frequency motor and facilitating bidirectional power transfer while minimizing the impact of harmonic distortions. The control strategy of the Modified Zeta Converter is based on a phase shift modulation approach, where power is shifted from leading ground components to lagging ground components. To validate the efficacy of this design, comprehensive simulations and practical experiments have been conducted with the converter, yielding valuable simulation and experimental results.
