Recommendation of Music for the Emotion Detected

Emotions play a crucial role in our everyday lifestyle, making an impact on our well-being and mental health. Recognizing and managing emotions effectively can contribute to emotional balance and overall happiness. Musical therapy has emerged as a significant tool to regulate our emotions as well as reducing the stress levels. This paper focuses on the developing a musical therapy system and implementing the same which utilizes facial emotion recognition techniques and plays raga (tune) of Indian classical music depending on the current emotion of the user in order to reduce his stress levels. The proposed system employs LBP (Local Binary Patterns) which captures unique patterns and features related to facial expressions, followed by implementation of SVM (Support Vector Machine) classifier which is used to carry out the analysis of the facial expressions by using the labeled training set and the extracted LBP features, learning to recognize patterns associated with different emotions and identify emotional states so as to play a music of respective raga which relaxes the user.
