Optimal Planning of Wind Energy System in Distribution System Using GA & WEO: A Comparative Study

Distribution systems need special planning to take the advantage of reduce power losses, improvement in voltage profile, and maximization of capacity of feeder. This paper presents, a optimal sizing and location problem of non-dispatchable energy source such as wind energy with the help of the genetic algorithm and water evaporation algorithm in radial distribution system. The comparative analysis between genetic algorithm and water evaporation algorithm is also investigated considering the problem of optimal sizing and location. In this paper, DG planning optimization is based on minimizing energy loss. The system is subject to constraints such as nodal power balance, feeder current limit, and node voltage limit, among others. This comparison analysis is carried out on IEEE-33 bus radial distribution system, and the simulation results are encouraging for optimal DG sizing and location issues.
