Design and Analysis of Impedance Network Based SEPIC Converter

Renewable energy applications encounter wide variations of input voltages thus need a DC - DC converter to deliver desired regulated output voltage. For this purpose, single ended primary inductance converter(SEPIC) is suitable, since it has wide range of tracking region. Though it is most suitable, voltage gain of conventional SEPIC converter is low, hence inverter with low frequency transformer is required to integrate with the AC grid. Hence impedance network(IN) based SEPIC converter is proposed to eliminate the low frequency transformer. Voltage gain can be increased by increasing the number of stages of the impedance network. A detailed study of the proposed IN based SEPIC converter in continuous conduction mode(CCM) is discussed. The voltage gain of the proposed converter is compared with similar topologies. State space representation of the proposed converter is derived. The proposed converter is analysed using simulation tool LTspice. To prove the operation of the proposed converter, a hardware prototype is also done and results are analysed.
