Proposed Mathematical Symbols using Braille: An opportunity for Blind Students that bridges conceptualization and visualization gaps

In this era of cutting-edge technology, humanity as a whole has made tremendous strides forward for the common good. The foundation and cornerstone of such progress are found in educational opportunities. No child should be denied this basic right of getting educated because of visual impairedness. Such students must be provided and enlightened with easy paths and platforms to learn mathematics to have better career opportunities. Visually impaired students have to rely heavily on touch senses to learn concepts. In school elementary arithmetic may be manageable, it becomes more and more difficult for blind students as they move on to higher grades. They give upmathematics because they can't wrap their heads around it and instead focus on arts and humanities. Challenges need to be addressed so that drop rate of mathematics by such students may be reduced to greater extent. This work propose new mathematical symbols for Braille so that blind students can visualize them easily with minimal efforts. The proposed braille code will ease the learning of subjects based on mathematics and also enhance the interest of such students to learn advance level mathematics. The main focus of the study is to bridge gap between conceptual model and braille code so that students can learn mathematics based subjects easily.
