Experimental Study on the Noise Reduction Effect of Biomimetic Serrated Propeller Blades

Experiments on aerodynamic noise of counter rotating propellers were conducted in a semi anechoic chamber. The noise reduction effect of Bionics serrated propellers is studied. The aerodynamic performance such as thrust, torque, and far-field noise of serrated propellers and reference propellers were tested. We also tested the directionality of far-field noise. The experimental results show that the serrated propellers has a significant noise reduction effect in the frequency range of 4000Hz-12000Hz. The noise reduction effect is not significant at the first and second pass frequencies. The serrated propellers does not cause aerodynamic performance loss, and it can provide considerations for the noise reduction design of counter rotating propellers.
