Performance Analysis Of T-Type 3-Level Inverter In Pv-Fuel Cell Hybrid Generation System

This work presents the concert analysis of 3-level T -type inverter for the application of hybrid generation system. High levels of harmonic distortion are produced by a conventional two-level inverter, which results in poor power quality. Hence, T -type three-level inverter is proposed in this work to overcome disadvantages in conventional inverter. Hybrid generation system comprises of Photovoltaic (PV) and Fuel cell. The implementation of a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) scheme is necessary in order to optimize power extraction from a photovoltaic (PV) system. Hence, the incremental conductance method is adopted for this system. Controlling the switches of a grid integrated 3-level T - Type inverter is accomplished through the application of a Carrier Based (CB) Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) scheme. The Proportional and Integral (PI) controller has been chosen for the task of regulating the voltage of the capacitor. The performance parameters including dc link voltage, active power, reactive power, power factor and total harmonic distortion (THD) are verified using projected inverter and compared with conventional two-level inverter. Matlab Simulink is used as the development environment for the work that was proposed.
