Energy Incentive for Packet Relay in Internet of Things Networks Using 5G NR

In the imminent era of the internet of gadgets, marked by the proliferation of an extensive assortment of intelligent portable gadgets, an efficient strategy for packet transmission involves employing multi-hop paths where nodes relay packets through their nearest neighbors rather than sending them directly to the access point or gateway. To incentivize intermediate nodes to partake in this packet relaying process, this correspondence introduces an energy incentive model. The model operates by allowing nodes to share a wide-band cognitive spectrum, thereby compensating for the energy expended in the act of packet relaying. Through a comprehensive analysis of linear networks, including its extension to encompass random networks, and supported by simulation studies, our proposed scheme demonstrates not only substantial energy conservation but also the ability to maintain an equitable distribution of energy across nodes. This equilibrium is upheld even in scenarios with varying relay loads, all while incurring only a slight rise in the overhead scanning.
