Timing ECO Approach Addressing Clock Gating Cells for Anti-Aging Purposes to Save Runtime

As technology nodes continue to shrink and clock frequencies increase, the power dissipation and aging effects in digital integrated circuits have become significant challenges. The addition of clock gating cells in digital designs has become a widely adopted technique to reduce power consumption. However, the introduction of these cells can potentially introduce timing violations, which can degrade the overall performance and functionality of the design. This paper focuses on ECO change methodology that specifically address clock gating cells to mitigate aging effects and enhance the overall reliability and longevity of digital circuits. Findings provide the effectiveness of our proposed approach in minimizing timing violations and run time while preserving the power-saving benefits of clock gating ensuring a balanced tradeoff between power reduction and timing performance.
