Broadband Waveguide Transitions and Loss Measurement Technique of Planar Transmission Lines in Millimeter-Wave Band

A transmission loss measurement technique of planar transmission lines is proposed in this work. The planar transmission line under test is terminated by broadband waveguide transitions at both ends. A waveguide jig is used to connect to standard waveguides. A probe station is not necessary to connect to a vector network analyzer. Developed various broadband planar-line-to-waveguide transitions for transmission line variation were summarized. The way to measure the transmission loss was introduced. Measurement in 300 GHz band was demonstrated in this paper.
