Low-Sidelobe Series-Fed Microstrip Antenna Array of 32×4 for K-Band Application

This paper presents the design of a K-Band series-fed microstrip antenna array with 32×4 elements, having a measured beam-width of 20°×3°. Both the E-plane and H-plane are section-wise impedance-matched for power distribution in the series-fed structures. The desired amplitude distribution and sidelobe levels for E and H plane of less than −30 dB and −20 dB respectively. The designed antenna structure has a good impedance matching in the required band of 24.0 GHz to 24.3 GHz. The max realised gain of 27 dBi in the bore-sight direction has been measured in the far field antenna setup. The proposed antenna offers a low profile, low side-lobes level, and highly directivity, making it valuable for portable radar and communication systems.
