Wideband Reconfigurable BOR Antenna Compound

A low-profile wideband reconfigurable antenna compound is investigated, where the height above the ground plane is less than 0.09 wavelength at the operating lowest frequency. The compound is composed of a fed BOR (body of revolution) and multiple parasitic elements printed on a thin dielectric substrate. The terminal point of each parasitic element is connected to the ground plane through an on-off switching circuit. The omnidirectional beam generated from the BOR can be tilted in the elevation plane and steered in the azimuth plane by changing on-off state of the parasitic elements. The proposed compound operates across a wide frequency band of approximately 35%.
