Measurement System and Methodology for RIS-Evaluation

This paper introduces a simple measurement methodology and system that enables a comprehensive RF performance test of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) board prior to its final usage. The complete RF switching functionality of each element on the surface can be verified, and any faulty RIS elements can be detected. Unlike far field measurements, this evaluation takes place in the nearfield of the RIS, directly above the board's surface.
