Classification of Pineapple Leaf Diseases using CNN

Besides the pineapple fruit, a main export of the Philippines, the leaves of the pineapple plant are important as they are used to make textiles and paper. However, the pineapple plant can be infected with diseases. If not prevented, the whole plant withers to be useless. Identification or detection of pineapple leaf diseases relies on the traditional process of manual inspection which is time-consuming and inconsistent. With the system utilizing the Raspberry Pi 3B+, the developed program identified healthy and diseased – mealybug wilt, leaf spot, and other – pineapple leaves using the CNN MobileNetV3. The system used several images labeled by the QPRDC Camarines Norte Program Leader for testing the accuracy. The overall accuracy of the system reached 87.88%.
