A Wide Range Tunable Inductor Based on Magnetic Coupling Techniques for RF Communication

Tunable inductors are critical components in the functional reconstruction of RF microsystems. Traditional tunable inductors have a limited tuning range as well as huge area, resulting in them unsuitable for the multifunctional reconstruction and downsizing of RF microsystems. A magnetic coupling-based tunable inductor design technology is proposed to broaden the tuning range and reduce the area. The results demonstrate that a continuous inductance tuning range of 0 - 350% (0-2.8nH) is achieved within the modulating voltage range of 0-6V. The tunable inductor design method can enhance the reconfigurable capability of RF microsystems.
