An Ultra-Wide-Scanning-Angle Array Based on A Miniatured Wide-Beam Antenna

This paper proposed a novel miniatured wide-beam antenna. A group of shorting vias is applied on a patch in order to control the radiating mode of conventional TM01 mode for patch antenna, achieving wide-beam radiating pattern. Simultaneously, the introduce of shorting vias provides extra path for currents which further increases the inductance of the patch antenna, achieving lower resonance frequency property. Based on designed antenna unit, an array is designed for angle scanning. By restoring current distribution of the unit in array, the array can obtain an ultra wide scanning angle about −900to +800.
