A L/S Dual-Band Circular Polarization Phased Array Antenna Used for Satellite Communication

A L/S dual-band circular polarization phased array antenna used for satellite communication is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna use double-layer radiation patch laminated structure to achieve dual frequency, and use two feed method to realized circular polarization. It has the characteristics of high band isolation, low profile and good axial ratio characteristics. The calculated results show that the proposed antenna has a impedance bandwidth(VSWR<2) from 1.9GHz-2.3GHz and circular polarization bandwidth (axial ratio<3) from1.94GHz-2.09GHz and 2.1GHz-2.31GHz. By rotation and translation, a 10-element antenna array is proposed, which can realized ±60° beam scanning in two dimensions. A 10-element array prototype is fabricated and reasonable agreement is achieved between the calculated and measured results.
