A Highly-Selective Planar Hybrid Filter Based On Dual-Mode SIW Loaded by Stripline Resonator

A novel compact filter architecture by loading a stripline resonator to a dual-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity is proposed in this paper. The stripline resonator consists of an enmeshed half-wavelength stripline and a metallized blind hole. By virtue of synergizing the attributes of the stripline resonator with those of a dual-mode rectangular SIW cavity, a novel extended box-section scheme manifests, thereby engendering a quasi-elliptic function response. Notably, this synthesis occurs through the embedding of the stripline resonator within the confines of the rectangular SIW cavity, thereby affording an augmentation in filtering order without encroaching upon any additional size expanse. Finally, a design exemplar is presented, thereby providing validation for the proposed hybrid filter design methodology.
