Stability of a Decelerated Flow in a Plane Channel

Linear stability of a rapidly decelerated channel flow is considered in the present paper. The base flow velocity distribution is found analytically using the method of the Laplace transform. Deceleration occurs due to a sudden reduction of the flow rate. Linear stability of the base flow is investigated numerically using the collocation method based on Chebyshev polynomials. Linear stability calculations show stabilization of the flow as the ratio of the flow rate after the transient to the flow rate before the transient increases.
