Optimal Slot-Pole Combination of In-Wheel BLDC Motor for High Performance Personal Mobility

In this paper, design on the slot-pole combinations of BLDC motor was presented to improve performance such as efficiency and cogging torque. The three slot-pole combinations that have the high winding factor and maintain the balanced phase conditions, including conventional slot-pole combination, were selected and the loss distributions were analyzed by using Finite Element Method (FEM). Finally, the optimal slot-pole combination that has better performance than conventional model was derived.
