IV Curve Characterization Methods for Photovoltaic Panels: An Applicative Review

The characterization/reconstruction of the IV curve of the photovoltaic (PV) panel or array involves obtaining strategic sampling points, regardless of the test or measurement condition. These measured points require an adequate processing strategy to optimize and validate the results obtained (sample points). This article presents a brief review of the different methods reported in the literature based on the application and scope of each method. Implementation variations and PV panel technology are considered. Also, an approach is presented with the main considerations of a post-processing strategy, based on unprocessed data.
