Target detection in mainlobe jammers with FDA-MIMO radar

In this paper, the target detection problem in the presence of mainlobe jammers is investigated in a frequency diverse array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar. Particularly, FDA-MIMO radar offers the special range degrees of freedom (DOFs) for the discrimination of the true target and mainobe jammers. At the formulation stage, the detection problem for the window under test (WUT) is formulated as a multi-hypothesis test, where the number, the positions, and the parameters of the signals (including true target and mainlobe jammers) are unknown. To tackle the formulated problem, we devise detectors in a sub-optimal way, i.e., penalized test, which incorporates the model order selection (MOS) criterion into the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) criterion. At the analysis stage, simulation experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed detectors.
