FMCW Interference Suppression Technique in OFDM Automotive Radar Using Grid Dechirping

Mutual interference has become an important topic of interest in automotive radars, and with the introduction of digital radars forseen in the field, new techniques of interference suppression will be necessary. In this paper, a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) interference suppression technique is proposed based on the impact of an FMCW radar on an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) radar. An advantage of this method is that it does not impose any constraint on the parameters of the radars, such as the relation between the FMCW chirp time and the OFDM symbol time. Simulations show that the algorithm achieves an interference attenuation depending on the receiver Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR).
