A Novel Model Order Reduction Technique for Approximation & Analysis of Hydropower System

The current controllers of power systems are in accordance with the more complex control system architectures, which are difficult to simulate, evaluate, and utilize in computer hardware due to their complexity and storage requirements. To address this issue, the author proposed a mixed method extended to an LTI-continuous SISO system. The benefits of the Routh stability and Balanced truncation technique are combined in the suggested approaches. The numerator of the simplified system is obtained by Routh stability and the denominator of the simplified order is determine by the balanced realization technique. The proposed technique is explained with the help of the hydropower system. The proposed approaches' results are compared to other existing methods in MOR literature. The system’s performance characteristics have been analyzed through step response and bode plot as well as Nyquist curve plays a remarkable role in presenting the stability of the system obtained through MATLAB simulation.
