Wideband C-Slot Microstrip Antenna for IoT Applications

This work provides an in-depth analysis of a C-slot wideband patch antenna for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. IoT is an impending paradigm enabling us to communicate to the world around us, by connecting various sensors and electronic devices through the internet. Disregarding all wireless applications, the design of antennas is very important. The antenna proposed has a C-shaped slot, cut on the rectangular radiating microstrip patch with the partially ground plane. Microstrip antennas are facile to fabricate and can be employed with IoT devices since IoT devices are embedded in chips. The center frequency of operation of the suggested C-slot microstrip antenna is 4.33 GHz. Delineation of the C-slot antenna, especially the patch and ground is depicted. This antenna has outstripped the bandwidth requirement of an IoT antenna, from 3.27 GHz to 5.23 GHz, and it manifests good characteristics. By inserting the C-slot, the radiation efficiency of the optimal antenna structure obtained is 80 per cent. The C-slot microstrip antenna is having a gain of 3.07 dBi. The simulation method included a high-frequency structure machine (HFSS).
