Enhance Power Quality in PV based Energy System with Artificial Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic Techniques

The harmonics presence is the main reason for decrease in power quality in a solar photovoltaic (PV) energy conversion system. This work presents, solar based PV cell using 15

-level cascaded inverter has been analyzed in terms of total harmonic distortion (THD) with different techniques. Where the THD is decreased by elimination of harmonics and comparative results analysis has been done between different methods of PV system. The proposed inverter output voltages and elimination of harmonics are monitored and controlled by PWM generator with proportional integral (PI) or ANN or FL based controller techniques. The comparative analysis has been done on these three techniques, compared to PI and ANN the proposed FLC based technique gives better results and helps in obtaining reduced harmonic distortions that increases the power quality. All the techniques are experimentally performed to reduce harmonics and improve power quality along with output voltage regulation. The output from the inverter is given to the controller and with the use of PWM generator gate signals are triggered. The entire simulation model has been validated through MATLAB power simulator.
