Design and Simulation of PMSG Based Wind Energy Conversion System

The purpose of this project is to develop a wind energy conversion system that creates electricity by transforming wind kinetic energy into electricity using a PMSG (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator). The estimated power range is 1kW. Traditional energy sources, such as fossil fuels and nuclear power, are used to create electricity. By 2060, it is projected that fossil fuels will be exhausted. As a result, different energy sources are needed to provide power. As traditional energy sources dwindle, renewable energy sources found in nature may be used to create power. Wind energy is completely free, limitless, non-polluting, and ecologically good. Simulations were done in MATLAB/Simulink to validate the model. The simulation demonstrates the design of a wind energy conversion system using MPPT PMSG. The converters use the generator's fluctuating three-phase output to generate the necessary DC output. Back-to- back converters are also designed in MATLAB/Simulink. To create power, the HAWT is directly linked to the PMSG. The PVC wind turbines, which are directly connected with the PMSG to generate power with a rated output of 1kW, perform the hardware design. A direct-drive WECS with no gear combinations is suggested.
