An Efficient Broadband Absorber Design and Development Using E-Waste Based Heterogeneous Composite

Heterogenous composites show a viable role in designing wideband microwave absorbers to fulfill the current demand in shielding applications. However, to develop cost-effective absorber having wide bandwidth with less thickness (< 3.5 mm) using waste material is very difficult task. In this paper, CI/EW based heterogenous composites were successfully developed using electronic-waste with the variation in wt.% of carbonyl iron from 10 to 50. To develop these composites two conventional preparation methods i.e., ball mill and blending method were used. The results show that C, X, and Ku-bands are covered by the developed single layer absorber with wide bandwidth of 7.5 GHz at the thickness of only 3 mm. The optimized use of e-waste and carbonyl iron makes the developed absorber cost-effective to be used in shielding applications.
