"Enhancing Reliability: Synthesis of Fault-Tolerant Control Strategies for Actuator and Sensor Faults in Piecewise Affine Systems"

This work presents a comprehensive strategy for actuator and sensor faults diagnosis and compensation in piecewise affine systems (PWA). Faults can significantly destruct the performance of systems. In this study, we propose a novel methodology that leverages data-driven techniques for effective fault detection, estimation, and compensation. To address actuator and sensor faults, we develop an additive control scheme that employs an additive control strategy. This strategy is designed to compensate for the identified faults in real-time. Fault detection is achieved through monitoring the discrepancy between predicted system behavior and actual measurements. Once a fault is detected and estimated, the control law was adjusted accordingly to eliminate the fault’s impact on the PWA system performance. Simulation results on a representative piecewise affine system show the importance of the proposed approach in estimating and eliminating for both actuator and sensor faults.
