Enhancing Indoor Air Quality through an Automatic HVAC Duct Cleaning Bot

Heating Ventilating and Air conditioning systems is commonly used in large buildings to maintain the inner temperature and to improve the air quality. Improving air quality will help in minimizing the air borne diseases. The mandatory component of the HVAC systems are the air ducts. Keeping air ducts clean is important to increase the efficiency of the HVAC systems. Manual cleaning of the air ducts is time consuming and very difficult process. To automate the cleaning process and to detect the dust in the air ducts, an application-oriented system is designed. This system uses advanced camera along with the processor to detect any dust or other particles present in the duct pathway. The captured images will be compared with the images which are preloaded in the microprocessor memory. If the system detects any dust, the user will be intimated with the alert and the bot started cleaning. The model is provided with four gearing motors attached wheels which can make the bot to move freely inside the air ducts. This model can be operated using remote also. The chassis is designed to withhold the total load. The total loads are the processor, battery, water tank other hardware components like relays, drivers and servomotors. The user will be provided with a graphic user interface where they can see the live telecast of the duct and the alert intimation. The user can also take a decision and the bot can be operated manually also.
