Model Predictive Power Control of Wind Turbines Based on SBCL Strategy

With more wind power integration to the modern power system, the performance of the wind turbine is increasingly important. Firstly, the wind turbine, inverter, and generator of the permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSG) are modeled separately, and the current prediction model of the inverter is derived. Based on this, a power prediction model is constructed, and a new single boundary circle limited model predictive power control strategy (SBCL-MPC) is proposed. To ensure power tracking performance, the voltage vector that allows the power error to enter the boundary circle as quickly as possible is selected. The proposed strategy does not require complicated coordinate transformations, and it can reduce the average switching frequency of the inverter while ensuring satisfactory power tracking. Finally, simulation analysis is conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
