Enhancing Seedbeds Climate Control System with Internet of Things-Based Remote Automation

Efficient climate control management in seedbeds plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal conditions for plant growth and development. In this research, we propose enhancing the seedbeds’ climate control system by integrating Internet of Things (IoT)-based remote automation. The objective of this study is to leverage IoT technologies to remotely monitor and control the climate parameters of seedbeds. The DHT11 sensor is used to measure humidity and room temperature, the TEMT 600 sensor is used to measure light intensity, the YL-100 sensor is used as a soil moisture sensor, and the Arduino Uno is used as the overall system controller. As actuators, a real-time clock (RTC) is utilized to schedule system operations. By integrating these sensors and utilizing the Arduino Uno as the controller, real-time data on temperature, humidity, light intensity, and soil moisture can be collected and analyzed. This data enables automated adjustments to maintain the ideal climate conditions for seedbeds. The integration of IoT-based remote automation offers several advantages. Firstly, it enables remote monitoring and control, allowing farmers or growers to manage multiple seedbeds simultaneously from a centralized location. Secondly, it facilitates data-driven decision-making by providing insights into the climate conditions and allowing for timely adjustments. Thirdly, it improves efficiency and productivity by automating routine tasks and reducing the need for manual intervention. This research aims to develop a robust and reliable system that enhances the seedbeds’ climate control through IoT-based remote automation. Results showed that the quality of cabbage seeds from this study was improved by 29.6%. The proposed system has the potential to optimize plant growth, minimize resource wastage, and improve overall agricultural productivity.
