Antipodal Vivaldi Array Systems for Azimuth and Elevation Beamsteering Application

This paper presents the design and experimental analysis of beamsteering systems employing Antipodal Vivaldi arrays for controlled directional reception. The systems were configured in elevation and azimuth setup, achieving an impressive bandwidth of 800 MHz (2.2 GHz to 3 GHz). In the Azimuth setup, the azimuth antipodal Vivaldi array has a gain of 16.1 dBi while the azimuth system gain of 3.34 dBi was achieved, enabling beamsteering within ± 30 degrees. The elevation configuration attained an antenna array gain of 10.4 dBi and a system gain of -3.01 dBi, demonstrating beamsteering capabilities within ± 60 degrees. The good measured performance of the antenna systems implicates their utility in enhancing signal reception and connectivity in indoor scenarios.
