Analysis and Design of a Hybrid Propulsion System for an Agricultural Tractor-implement Set

This paper presents a novel methodology to define the electric machines and the internal combustion engine applied to a series-parallel hybrid topology of an agricultural tractor powertrain. A soybean crop no-till seeding operation is considered for the sizing steps, where the power demand is calculated from the field requirements. The european standard NRTC (Non-road Transient Cycle) is considered for evaluating the methodology, and the efficiency maps of the machines are used to determine the operation point of the electrical machines and the combustion engine.
