A Numerical Simulation Study for Swirling Flow Nozzle

The swirling flow nozzle has become an important component in the combustion chamber of aircraft engines, it can atomize the fuel into droplets to increase the surface area of the liquid by forcing the fuel to rotate, which helps to stabilize the combustion of the fuel. The complex atomization mechanism inside the swirling flow nozzle can be revealed by exploring the fluid motion in the small space inside the nozzle through computational fluid dynamics CFD technique. In this paper, FLUENT is used to conduct CFD numerical simulation of the internal flow field in a swirling flow nozzle by the Large Eddy Simulation turbulence model combined with the Volume of Fluid method. The calculation results show the distribution of pressure field and velocity field inside the nozzle, revealing that in the radial direction of the inner section of the nozzle, the fluid pressure decreases with the increase of the radius, and the fluid velocity increases first and then decreases with the increase of the radius.
