Microscale, High Aspect Ratio, Effectively Transparent Contacts (ETCs) Fabricated with String Printing

We present the fabrication of microscale, high aspect ratio front contacts for solar cells using our recently developed string printing method. String printing allows fabrication of contact lines from inks or pastes and offers high flexibility with respect to contact dimension, aspect ratio, and shape. The process can be optimized to yield triangular cross-section effectively transparent contacts (ETCs). We will present the fabrication method, scanning electron microscopy images, as well as properties of silicon heterojunction solar cells with string-printed contacts.
