Study and Analysis of Real-Time Video Streaming Over SDN

This article will study video streaming, the continuous distribution of video data from a server to a client over the internet using software defined networking. Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu are now synonymous with “streaming.” Video streaming accounts for over 57% of internet traffic. Video streaming requires multicast routing and QoS guarantee, making it hard to implement on ordinary networks. Multicast transmits data from several sources to multiple target computers. Video conferencing, file distribution, and video-on-demand are typical uses. Old networks are static, whereas today’s server demands are dynamic. Today’s networks are complex, making it hard for IT to implement universal access restrictions. Thus, current procedures put organizations at risk of security breaches and regulatory issues. To accommodate hundreds or thousands of additional devices with different performance and service needs, networks must grow. These demands cannot be met by traditional static networks. For video streaming, Software Defined Networking (SDN) is suggested. SDN is a new networking paradigm. Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a revolutionary network design that isolates network administration and global network view to a logically centralized controller, making new network services and protocols easier to install.
