Ontology Based Personal Assistive Application

Personal Assistive Applications are gaining importance in current scenario of growing elderly population.Assistive application enables elderly people to lead an independent life.This study focuses on developing an ontology-based personal assistive application for helping elderly users.The application is intended to cater to the needs of different users having different health condition and personal preferences concerned with mode of delivery of assistive action.The application outputs the assistive actions for a specific person,considering his current activity,health condition and preferences.An ontology based model is used for storing health status and preferences and the assistive actions are inferred after rule based reasoning.This work uses ICF ontology for representing the health condition and SWRL rules to determine the appropriate assistive action.
