Radar Cross Section from the Characteristic Basic Function Method combined with the Physical Optics to accelerate the EFIE solver

From the electric field integral equation (EFIE), discretized by the Rao-Wilton-Glisson Galerkin Method of Moments (MoM), a linear system must be solved. The characteristic basic function method (CBFM) has proved its efficiency to solve the matrix equation for radiation and scattering problems. This approach decomposes the object into sub-domains and its first stage consists in calculating the associated primary basis functions (PBFs). In order to accelerate this step, the physical optics approximation is derived from EFIE. For a perfectly-conducting object of different shapes, the radar cross section (RCS) is compared with that obtained from a brute-force MoM to show the efficiency and accuracy of CFBM-PO.
