Improvement of Sliding Mode Control for Boost Converters Based on Disturbance Observer

An improved sliding mode control algorithm based on disturbance observer (DOB) is designed to address the problem that boost converter is susceptible to various uncertainty disturbances leading to unstable output voltage. Firstly, the average equivalent model of boost converter in the presence of disturbances is established. Then, the DOB is designed to accurately track the disturbance signal within a finite time and estimate the load resistance and input voltage. Finally, a sliding mode controller was designed based on the obtained estimates. The stability of the proposed algorithm is analyzed through Lyapunov theory. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are verified by comparing with the traditional sliding mode control algorithm by building a simulation model in MATLAB/Simulink.
