IoT Based Energy Efficient Smart Home Security

Home Security is one of the most important requirements of every individual. Every person wants a secure shelter at minimum cost. In the proposed system, the concept of the Internet of things (IoT) is used along with sensors like gas sensors (MQ2), PIR sensors, and Temperature sensors for providing home security, and in case of any hazard, an automatic message or call will be sent to the user using the GSM module. Arduino Mega 2560 board is used in this research due to its ease to use and ability to handle multiple sensors. Besides this, the research also includes an automatic gas leakage detection system and certain actions can be taken automatically based on the situation. The PIR (passive infrared) sensor can be used to detect the motion of humans even during nighttime and this can prevent burglars to the maximum extent. The gas sensor and temperature sensor can be used to detect any fire accidents and rise in temperature and can take required actions immediately avoiding many accidents. The automatic door locking system is also included in this research, in the absence of residents in the home if any unusual motion is detected an alert will be sent to the given phone numbers and they can take necessary action. The proposed design has the advantage of flexible security with smart power consumption.
