Turbine & Generator Efficiency Evaluation for a Low Head Cascaded Hydro Power Station

Operation of cascaded hydropower plant for generating power for a common power channel is always a complex and critical work. In this paper a short term unit commitment system with an optimised maximum power for 15 minute duration of the time have been proposed and analysed. Practical swan optimised based algorithm for scheduling of cascaded hydro plant has been utilised for maximizing the power output from the turbine while ensuring the specified water volume inside the dam. MATLAB based mathematical modelling has been discussed to model the system while ensuring the standard model as per IS standards and latest state of art particles.
