Components of Knowledge Brokers in Management Consulting Context

This paper identifies the components of Knowledge Brokers (KB) which enable knowledge brokerage process in management consulting context, proposes a conceptual framework for components of knowledge brokers based on the literature review, and presents findings from qualitative research based on in-depth interviews with management consultants in global management consulting firms. The three main components of knowledge brokers in management consulting context are interpersonal skills, cognitive ability, and personal drive. Interpersonal skills consist of four sub-components - interactive skill, motivational skill, hybrid & anomalous, and neutrality. Cognitive ability includes three sub-components – professional competence, socio-demographics, and experiential learning. Personal drive includes personal disposition. Findings from this research present the potential to develop an innovation for knowledge brokerage service.
