Research on Highly Efficient Electric Motors with Increased Power Factor

In all industries, electric drives based on the use of asynchronous motors with a rated voltage of 220/380V or 6kV are used to rotate working machines and mechanisms. These electric motors are the largest consumers of electrical energy. According to expert estimates, enterprises in the Russian Federation use from 120 to 150 million of asynchronous motors. The widespread use of motors is due to their high reliability, relatively low cost and acceptable operating costs. Up to 70% of asynchronous motors are concentrated in energy-intensive industries: mining, oil, gas production, metallurgy, construction and housing and communal services. In the life support systems of Russian cities alone, asynchronous electric drives of pumping units consume up to 130 billion kWh of electrical energy per year. An analysis of high-voltage refinery motors was carried out, as a result of which it was found that more than 85% of the basis of the electric drive are asynchronous motors with a service life of more than 31 years. Natural and artificial mechanical characteristics were constructed, static stability when changing the load on the shaft, when the supply voltage was reduced, and dynamic stability were analyzed. The authors have developed a mathematical model of an energy-efficient asynchronous motor in the MatLab. Using the proposed mathematical model, the operation of an energy-efficient motor in transient processes was analyzed in more detail, graphs of stator voltage and current, instantaneous power, electromagnetic torque and rotor rotation speed were determined and plotted.
