Tracking Position on GPS Smart Buoy System Using LoRa Communication

The use of buoy navigation aids is crucial for directing ships through perilous waterways. As a navigational aid, it is crucial to preserving the functionality of the system and the safety of the assets. One of the buoy assets is a lamp which has a fairly high price. Buoy can be supported by the use of Internet of Things technology in order to be able to guarantee the safety of assets. IoT applications are widely employed in many industries, including the monitoring industry. The LoRaWAN wireless network is now being used by the technology that is being developed for IoT device connectivity. This technology makes it possible to communicate over long distances of up to more than 500 meters. In this study, LoRa communication will be used to create a buoy position monitoring system with LoRaWAN protocol. This technology makes use of a GPS sensor to get coordinates from the buoy in real-time. From one of the longitude and latitude data collected in buoys 1(−6.918378, 112.726867) and 2(−6.968248, 112.709147), which were obtained during testing at sea and where coordinates are in the ocean in accordance with the buoy position. Data from sensors will be transmitted to the Antares platform utilizing LoRa 915 MHz using the ESP32 microcontroller. The result of packet loss on the buoy monitoring system is 6.7%.
