Daily Load Profiles Clustering of Regional Distribution Grid 6-10 kV

In the context of the introduction of renewable energy sources (RES) and electrical energy storage systems (EESS), the task of planning the development of distribution networks up to 35 kV becomes especially relevant. In this regard, it becomes important to analyze and cluster the load profiles of existing substations and its feeders, considering information about the types of loads. In this article, the authors performed clustering of the substations load and outgoing feeders for 244 substations of the regional power system. Based on the results of the analysis, the main clusters were identified and the relationship between the types of consumers and the load schedule of main substations and outgoing feeders was established. Moreover, the load profiles coefficients have been calculated for different clusters and seasons. In conclusion, recommendations are given on using the clustering results to improve approaches to calculating the future load when implementing the technological connection procedure.
