Tinospora Cordifolia Leaf Detection from Drone Images Using Deep CNN

Plant identification is critical in the medicinal plant sector. Plant identification, on the other hand, is a difficult operation that demands skill and can be time-consuming, especially when using traditional methods. Tinospora Cordifolia is a big deciduous, climbing shrub native to India. It is also known as heart-leaved Moonseed plant in English and Thippatheega in Telugu. It has long been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to treat diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol, hay fever, and others, as well as to improve the immune system. These medicinal properties have made Tinospora cordifolia a highly valued plant in traditional medicine. Plant species may be distinguished by their leaves, which have different characteristics. Texture and morphological traits of plants can be used for identification. The current methods for plant identification are laborious and tedious, which can be a challenge in accurately assessing medicinal plant reserves, especially at high elevations. This research proposes a deep learning-based approach for detecting Tinospora Cordifolia leaves in drone images. The proposed system is tested on the dataset available at the website Mepco tropic leaf and achieved an accuracy of 97%.
