Utilizing a High-Sensitive and Secure Communication System for Data Transmission

Data transmission via communication is critical for any system, especially when the transmitted data is sensitive or important. It needs to be safe during movement between system components. Several studies and research projects have been conducted to solve this problem. In this paper, an optoelectronic feedback-based, highly sensitive chaotic communication system for secure communication is developed. The chaotic signal is produced by a semiconductor laser and used as a carrier of data. The 10-Gb / s signal was encrypted and sent through free space optical (FSO) and optical fiber links. The proposed data transmission technique was evaluated via computer simulation using Berkeley Madonna and Optisystem software. The encrypted signal was successfully received and decrypted at 13 km and 105 km for FSO and optical fiber, respectively. The Q-factor of these signals was 5.796 and 5.67, while the BER was 3.37 e-9 and 6.33 e-9, respectively. The proposed system showed high sensitivity to feedback strength and security, which were achieved easily and at a lower cost in comparison to similar techniques. The system is suitable for secure applications such as IoT and IoNT.
